The Covenant

A covenant, not a slogan.

Mithaq means covenant — a binding promise. This page is ours: four public commitments by which any reasonable observer can hold us accountable, in writing.

Covenant 01

The No-Go List

These are categories of business Mithaq Ventures will never build, acquire, or accept investment around — irrespective of upside, market opportunity, or pressure. This list is permanent. It exists so that "principled" is a structural decision, not a marketing line.

  • Riba-based lending or investment products
  • Gambling, speculation, or chance-based monetisation
  • Surveillance advertising or behavioural targeting
  • Engagement-maximising algorithms designed to capture attention
  • Content hosting that monetises immodesty or harm
  • Data brokerage of any kind — user information is never sold

Covenant 02

The Giveback Pledge

A meaningful share of profit from every Mithaq Ventures venture returns to the community as perpetual charity. This is committed publicly, before profit exists, so that the obligation precedes the temptation.

10%

of net profit

from every venture

Allocated annually across four perpetual-charity categories. Recipients are reported in our public yearly letter, with amounts and projects named.

Education

Supporting Quran and literacy programmes in under-resourced communities.

Clean Water

Wells and water infrastructure in regions of greatest need.

Orphan Sponsorship

Long-term sponsorship of orphaned children — education, food, shelter, dignity.

Knowledge Endowments

Open scholarship, translations, archives, and tools the community owns.

Covenant 03

Shariah Review

Each Mithaq Ventures product is reviewed by qualified Shariah scholars on a per-venture basis prior to public launch, and at material product changes thereafter. Reviews are commissioned from named scholars and the engagement is documented as part of the venture's launch package.

Standing advisory circle

A standing advisory circle is being formalised by invitation, in addition to per-venture reviews. Members are named on this page as they accept.

The circle is drawn from teachers actively serving Muslim communities across major schools of jurisprudence. Per-venture review is in place today; the standing circle is the governance layer above it.

Covenant 04

Data Dignity

The protection of another's private affairs is itself a trust whose violation carries weight. We design our products to reduce, not expand, what is known about you.

We do not track you on this website.

No analytics, no cookies, no fingerprinting, no third-party scripts. The traffic on this domain is genuinely anonymous to us.

Each venture states its data terms in plain language.

Before complex policies, every product carries a one-page summary in human English: what we collect, why, where it lives, and when it is deleted.

We do not sell or share data. Ever.

Not aggregated. Not anonymised. Not 'with select partners'. Selling user data is on the No-Go list and would constitute a breach of covenant.

Your data is yours to take and to delete.

Every product offers full export and complete deletion within seven days of request, without exception.

Public. Written. Binding on the studio.

The standard we hold ourselves to

This covenant is binding on the studio.
